about

Recorded live in May 2008 - This material is being made available (albeit with the many imperfections in the recording) as a historical document with the intent to bridge the gap in the evolution of the band's sound. Alternate arrangements, instrumentation and new inspiration came about while tackling the challenges of prying the sound of the "Rise. Fall. Repeat." album, which was never intended as more than a studio project, from its digital hell, where it was contained across several low end Windows PCs and various pieces of software. With the addition of new gear and through a process of recontextualization into a live band format, the songs from the album were completely reworked between the initial release in 2006 and 2007, and took on a new life with more immediacy and intense energy than what had been captured in the initial recording of the album. Performances were a multi-media experience, accompanied where video projection equipment was available with artwork by Kire Hughes. Following shows in and around the Columbus area in 2007 and 2008, these arrangements were retired when they were abruptly lost completely due to a massive and devastating hard drive failure. As such, this is the only record of these versions of the songs during that time period, but their structure and sound informed a great deal of what has followed in the years since.
